Einsatzübung: Mitglieder der Anti-Terroreinheit GSG-9, einer Spezialeinheit des Bundesgrenzschutzes, bei einer Vorführung in Hangelar am 27.03.1979. - Verfolgung und Stellen motorisierter Störer durch die Spezialeinsatztruppe (SET). Ein Zipfel des Schleiers um die ansonsten so geheime Truppe, die nach dem Terroranschlag im Jahre 1972 auf die israelische Olympia-Mannschaft in München gegründet worden ist, wurde am 27.03.1979 von Journalisten gelüftet. Die Truppe der legendären "Helden von Mogadischu" ist heute rund 170 Mann stark. In achtmonatiger härtester Ausbildung werden die Einzelkämpfer gedrillt, die mit modernsten Waffen schießen und z.B. selbst ein Fünfmarkstück in der Luft treffen. Mitglieder der GSG 9 bei einem Hubschraubereinsatz. (undatierte Aufnahme). Als Reaktion auf ein Massaker eines palästinensischen Terrorkommandos auf dem Flughafen München-Fürstenfeldbruck am 05.09.1972 ordnete der damalige Innenminister Genscher am 26.09.1972 die Gründung einer Grenzschutztruppe 9 zur Bekämpfung militanter Tätergruppen an. Die GSG 9 soll vor allem dann zum Einsatz kommen, wenn es um Mord und Totschlag, Menschenraub, Geiselnahme und räuberische Erpressung geht. Im Oktober 1977 stürmte die Eliteeinheit in einer spektakulären Aktion die entführte Lufthansa-Maschine "Landshut" im ostafrikanischen Mogadischu und befreite die an Bord befindlichen Geiseln. Snipers, Fast-roping, and Small Arms Fire
Marines from 2nd Reconnaissance Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, utilize snipers skills, fast-roping, and small arms fire while doing sustainment training in Djibouti. AMISOM Combat Engineers search for IEDs in Kismayo

Two engineers serving with the Kenyan Contingent of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) search a former police station in the southern Somali port city of Kismayo for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) 03 October 2012. The Al-Qaeda-affiliated extremist group Al Shabaab withdrew from the city on 02 October after AMISOM troops, Somali National Army (SNA) forces and the pro-government Ras Kimboni Brigade entered and captured Kismayo without a fight. EUTM SOM
European Training Mission for Somalia (EUTM SOM). An der EU-geführten Ausbildungsmission beteiligen sich 13 europäische Staaten. Deutschland und Spanien sind mit derzeit jeweils 19 Soldaten die größten Truppensteller (insgesamt 125 EU-Soldaten). Hauptauftrag ist, zusammen mit der ugandischen Armee in Bihanga (West-Uganda, nahe der Grenze zur DR Kongo) von der UN ausgewählte somalische Rekruten zu Mannschaftssoldaten, Unteroffizieren und Offizieren auszubilden.
