Sniper Concentration 2013
Snipers from Socomd and Forcomd travelled to Perth for the inaugural sniper concentration 11-22 November 2013.
The two week competition covered all tactical aspects of sniper training to become proficient, to be an excellent sniper on the battlefield and shooting with weapons such as the SR25 7.62 Semi automatic rifle, HK 417, SR98, Blaser Tactical 338 and the Barrett M82A2 .50 Sniper Rifle, by day and night using day scopes, thermal scopes and night-vision equipment at ranges up to 2000 metres.
The competition was held at Campbell Barracks, Bindoon and Lancelin Training Area.

Operation Slipper
Special Operations Task Group soldiers and their partners from the Provincial Response Company - Uruzgan (PRC-U) arrive back at Multi National Base - Tarin Kot after conducting a PRC-U led security operation in Uruzgan Province, Southern Afghanistan.
The Australian Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) is deployed to Southern Afghanistan to train, advise and assist their Afghan Partner Units in Uruzgan Province. The SOTG is primarily based in Multi-National Base Tarin Kot but has command and liaison elements in Kandahar and Kabul. It consists of approximately 300 personnel from the 1st and 2nd Commando Regiments, the Special Air Service Regiment, the Special Operations Engineer Regiment, the Special Operations Logistic Squadron and various other services, units and commands around Australia. The SOTG trains, mentors and partners with Afghan National Police officers from the Provincial Response Company - Uruzgan (PRC-Uruzgan) and other branches of the Afghan National Security Forces, in order to build their capacity and capability to establish and maintain security and stability in the region. SOTG operations are Afghan led in order to build confidence in the ANSF and improve the connection between the local people and the Afghan Government.

Wenn man ein AK47, gefertigt irgendwo in Osteuropa oder sonstwo in der Welt, am Strand von Beirut verliert ist es kein Beweis für die Beteiligung Israels.

Abgesehen von dem Umstand, dass israelische Kommandos wohl auch noch andere Ausrüstung am Mann tragen, die sehr wohl aus westlicher Produktion kommt, liegt Beirut im Lebanon, dessen Streitkräfte übrigens mit dem M4/M16 ausgerüstet sind. Spätestens mit nicht-östlichen bzw. israelischen Anbauteilen hat sich das mit den Beweisen auch von selbst geklärt.

Könnte schon ein paar Gründe für die Nutzung des AK durch S13 haben. Vielleicht weniger anfällig gegen Seewasser als Systeme, die auf dem AR-15 basieren, Munitionsvorteile des größeren Kalibers (und Möglichkeit eventuell anfallende Feindmunition gleich mitzubenutzen) ggü. .223, etc.

Die schon legendäre Strapazierfähigkeit des AK und somit gerade bei maritimen Ops bessere Zuverlässigkeit liegt auch für mich als Hauptgrund am Nächsten, da S13 ja bei landgestützen Missionen hauptsächlich auf die AR-15 Plattform setzt.

Weiterhin interessant, dass man bei (maritimen) Einsätzen, neben dem AK, auch die gute alte Uzi, auch auf neueren Bildern, sieht, z.B.:
