Snipers from the 2nd Commando Regiment (2 Cdo Regt) travelled to Canberra to practice advanced sniper techniques and stalking skills at Majura Range on 9 April 2014.
The training covered the tactical aspects of sniper training with a focus on stalking skills.

The stalking activity included initial patrolling, reconnaissance of the target, development of firing positions, and engaging the enemy.
The sniper teams had to achieve all of this without being detected by enemy spotters. Depending on firing positions, snipers engaged their target at ranges up to 900 metres.

2 Cdo Regt is a Special Operations Commando unit under direct command of Special Operations Headquarters (SOHQ).
2 Cdo Regt maintains an integral ability to conduct discriminate offensive Special Operations within complex environments.
2 Cdo Regt is a scalable organisation capable of operating from Team to Commando Company Group level.

Nur eine Theorie, aber iirc waren das CFN doch an einigen UNO-Einsätzen beteiligt, ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass dadurch Fähigkeiten und Erfahrung bei Crowd/Riot Control vorhanden sind. Außerdem gibt es in Staat und Stadt Rio de Janeiro einige Marinestützpunkte, sie könnten also schlicht vor Ort gewesen sein. Jedenfalls ist es nicht das erste Mal, dass sie die Polizei bei solchen Einsätzen unterstützen.

Ist die CORE eine Einheit einer Nationalpolizei (gibts entsprechendes überhaupt in Brasilien?) oder der lokalen Polizei?
Und Militärpolizei des Staates Rio de Janeiro, einfach dort stationiert oder ist die Militärpolizei territorial zugehörig organisiert?
