Over 5,000 personnel from 11 NATO countries are participating in Exercise Swift Response, the largest combined airborne training exercise in Europe since the end of the Cold War. The exercise is being held from 18th August to 12th September in Germany, Romania, Bulgaria and Italy and one of the major events featured over 1,000 multinational troops parachuting into a Drop Zone on a single day in Hohenfels, Bavaria.

Jeweils zwei Wiesel 1 können im CH-53G Hubschrauber und vier im Transportflugzeug C-160 Transall transportiert werden. Bei letzterem wurde auch ein Abwurf mittels Lastenfallschirmen erprobt, was allerdings zu keinem positiven Ergebnis führte. Nachdem mehr als vier Waffenträger dabei zerstört wurden, stellte man die Versuche ein und nach Dienstvorschrift ist ein Abwurf somit auch nicht vorgesehen.

Sgt. Jonathan B. Reeves currently serves as a Marine Corps drill instructor with Platoon 1085, Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. Reeves joined the Marine Corps in September 2009 and became a drill instructor in January 2015. Reeves is a native of Augusta, Ga.
