Swift Response 2015

Eight Allied or Partnered nations conduct airborne operations during exercise Swift Response at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany, August 26th, 2015. The purpose of the exercise is to conduct joint and combined training events in order to evaluate brigade and battalion level execution of strategic out-load in conjunction with Allied Partner nations through an intermediate staging base. Swift Response 15 is the U.S. ArmyÕs largest combined airborne training event in Europe since the end of the Cold War. More than 4,800 service members from 11 NATO nations- including Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States- will take part in the exercise on training areas in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, and Romania, Aug. 17- Sept. 13, 2015. Sind die Wiesel eigentlich luftlandefähig? Ich meine mich zu erinnern, dass bei Tests das Fahrwerk das nicht mitgemacht haben soll?

Ich quote mal aus dem WHQ Datenblatt smile.gif. Das hat mich stutzig gemacht.

Jeweils zwei Wiesel 1 können im CH-53G Hubschrauber und vier im Transportflugzeug C-160 Transall transportiert werden. Bei letzterem wurde auch ein Abwurf mittels Lastenfallschirmen erprobt, was allerdings zu keinem positiven Ergebnis führte. Nachdem mehr als vier Waffenträger dabei zerstört wurden, stellte man die Versuche ein und nach Dienstvorschrift ist ein Abwurf somit auch nicht vorgesehen.

Ich kann mir da zwei Wege vorstellen. Einmal hat Deutschland in den 1930ern Verträge mit Afghanistan abgeschlossen, die auch militärische Kooperationen beinhalteten. Ähnlich wie bei den chinesischen Nationalisten gehörten dazu wohl auch Uniformen und Handfeuerwaffen. Eine andere Möglichkeit wäre der Lancaster-Plan der Briten nach dem Krieg. da ging es um die Absicherung des Indischen Subkontinents. Vielleicht beinhalteten die Lieferungen auch Beutebestände der Wehrmacht?

Das sind wohl eher keine original Wehrmachtsuniformen. Kolorierte Fotos des Besuches von Präsident Eisenhower zur gleichen Zeit in Afghanistan zeigen braune Waffenröcke und Mäntel, Farbfotos aus den 1960er Jahren zeigen ebenfalls braunde Uniformen. Die Uniformen sind imho deshalb nur beeinflusst durch Deutschland. Was die Helme hier betrifft, so handelt es sich eher um den M18-Helm der Reichswehr und nicht um den M35 der Wehrmacht, obwohl letzterer möglicherweise auch bei den Afghanen im Einsatz war. Insgesamt denke ich, der deutsche Einfluss auf die Uniformen und Ausrüstung ist auf die Zeit vor dem 2. Weltkrieg zurück zu führen. Die Briten werden wohl kaum Wehrmachtshelme nach Afghanistan geliefert haben.

Halte ich auch für wahrscheinlicher. Die Helme sind in der Tat mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit Vorkriegsmodelle. Die Krempe ist sehr breit. Wie gesagt, das Reich hat in Asien ja eine Menge beliefert.

Hat vielleicht mit der Niedermayer-Hentig-Expedition zu tun. Das war ein misslungener Versuch im ersten WK Afghanistan als Verbündeten gegen die Briten zu gewinnen. Hat aber zur Aufnahme diplomatischer Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Afghanistan geführt. Soweit ich weiß sind seither die Afghanen recht gut auf die Deutschen zu sprechen. (Gut das mag sich in den letzten Jahren geändert haben tounge.gif)

Vielleicht gab es in dem Rahmen auch Militärhilfe. Meine mich dunkel zu erinnern dass die Deutschen die erste (Waffen?-)Fabrik in Afghanistan errichtet haben.

Die Niedermayer-Hentig-Expedition hat die Beziehungen eröffnet, aber es wurden keine Rüstungsgüter geliefert. Im Prinzip waren das ein paar Leute (60 Mann), die mit mehr Glück als Verstand aus Richtung Indien und Bagdad Kabul erreichten. Eine zweite Gruppe mit schwerer Ausrüstung und Funkgerät wurde von den Briten abgefangen. Die einzigen Militärgüter, die Afghanistan da hätte abgreifen können, wären fallengelassene Gegenstände gewesen.

Mein letzter Absatz war schlecht formuliert. Dass die N-H-Expedition erfolglos war ist mir klar. "In dem Rahmen" bezog sich auf die dadurch aufgenommenen Beziehungen, also nach dem Krieg.

Habe hier mal eine Zusammenfassung gefunden. Auf jeden Fall waren Deutschland und Afghanistan in den zwanzigern freundschaftlich verbunden, es gab auch einen Freundschaftsvertrag 1926 und zahlreiche deutsche Experten halfen bei der Errichtung moderner Anlagen. Da ist es naheliegend dass sich das auch auf das Militärische ausweitete.
