Talisman Sabre 2015
In the lead up to Exercise Talisman Sabre 2015 (EX TS15), a combined Australian and United States Special Forces Task Force deployed Australian Commandos, US Rangers and Australia’s Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) Airborne Engineer Capability to conduct repairs of the airfield at the Mount Bundy Field Training Area in the Northern Territory on 01 July.
The exercise was based on the parachute insertion of a Commando and Ranger group in the preceding days which conducted a tactical ground move to secure the airfield. The airfield had been severely damaged by an enemy which then required a 'parachute load' insertion of heavy engineer equipment and troops from Australia's Special Operations Engineer Regiment (SOER). The SOER Airborne Engineering Capability stores were delivered to the location by a Royal Australian Air Force C-17 Globemaster.
The SOER troops repaired the airfield and removed obstacles which allowed other Army units to land using United States C-130 Hercules aircraft.
EX TS15 is a training activity focussed on the planning and conduct of mid-intensity “high-end” warfighting activities in a combined and joint environment.

Exercise Northern Shield 2015
A Company of Army Commandos have parachuted out of three Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft and dropped into the waters of Exmouth, Western Australia to fight and defeat a simulated enemy during the inaugural Australian Defence Force Exercise Northern Shield. The Special Forces contingent descended into Exmouth against the setting sun, loaded into zodiac watercraft and moved to a beach landing site, before conducting a late night raid to clear role player combatants occupying several buildings near a Defence facility. Exercise Northern Shield involves over 1000 troops from the Army and Air Force. The major activities are occurring from the 19th – 24th of September.

Des chasseurs alpins du «7» sur RMC Découverte
Le 2 juin 2015, la 2e compagnie de combat a participé au tournage d’une prochaine émission « Champ de Bataille » qui sera diffusée à l’automne sur la chaîne RMC Découverte. Ce tournage a porté sur l’entrainement actuel des chasseurs alpins au combat en montagne.
Accompagnés par Mr Serge TIGNERES, réalisateur et présentateur de ce programme, nos chasseurs ont donc déroulé un exercice de combat en montagne sur les contreforts du massif du VERCORS. Deux groupes de combats équipés du système FELIN, ont mis en œuvre leurs savoir-faire tactiques embarqués et débarqués sur VAB et sur VHM. Le tournage s’est conclut par le contrôle d’un col de montagne et la mise en place d’un dispositif de surveillance face à la vallée.

Irgendwie sieht mir der Herr auf dem Motorrad zu europäisch aus. Überläufer?

Das wird anhand eines Fotos schwer zweifelsfrei zu klären sein. Möglich ist das natürlich schon, halte es aber für eher unwahrscheinlich. Ich gebe dabei zu bedenken, dass Afghanistan ein ethnisch sehr diverses Land mit vielen verschiedenen ethnischen Gruppen ist, welche oft auch äußerlich den landläufigen stereotypen Vorstellungen entgegenlaufen.
