USA verhindert Kauf von EX-Israel-F16s an Kroatien.
ZITAT Croatia in March agreed to buy 12 used F-16s from Israel to replace its Russian-made MiG-21s. The United States, however, objected to the sale of the US-made jets because it wants the removal of electronic system upgrades that Israel added, in a rare defense dispute between the close allies, according to Croatian officials. ZITAT Apart from Israel, several other countries also put in bids for the tender, including Greece, South Korea, Sweden and the United States. Crown Copyright Announced on 10 January, the Lightning programme development came less than one year after the UK's first short take-off and vertical landing aircraft arrived at RAF Marham in Norfolk. Seventeen examples have so far been delivered, including assets supporting pilot training and initial operational test and evaluation work in the USA, from a total UK programme commitment for 138 F-35s. In addition to confirming the F-35B's operational availability, defence secretary Gavin Williamson also has announced that the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon fleet is now available for operations armed with MBDA Brimstone air-to-surface and Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Crown Copyright Prepared via a three-year, £425 million ($452 million) Project Centurion activity involving Eurofighter partner company BAE Systems, the combination will replace the ground-attack capability currently delivered by the RAF's Panavia Tornado GR4s, the last of which will be retired in late March. https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/...onal-mi-454926/ -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

Was unweigerlich zu 2. führt. 2. ZITAT The end of an era: RAF Tornado returns from Operations for the last time
Date: 05 Feb 2019 After almost 40 years serving the UK on military operations across the world, iconic RAF Tornado jets have returned home for the last time. First entering service in 1979, the fast jets have been used in operations across the world, most recently bombarding Daesh to push the terrorist group back through Syria and Iraq. Families and friends of the present-day squadron members were on hand to welcome them back to RAF Marham, Norfolk, today. The weapons capabilities of the soon-to-retire Tornados are now being delivered by RAF Typhoon jets, which will continue to take a leading role in the Coalition’s mission against Daesh. Under ‘Project Centurion’, worth £425million over the past three years, the Typhoon can now also launch the world-leading Meteor air-to-air missile, the Stormshadow deep strike cruise missile and the precision attack missile Brimstone. These improved RAF Typhoon jets will form the backbone of the UK’s combat air fleet, alongside the recently introduced new fleet of F-35 Lighting jets over the coming years. The Tornado will be officially retired from service at the end of March and will only be used for training purposes over the UK in the intervening period. France carries out rare simulation of nuclear deterrent strike PARIS (Reuters) - France conducted a rare simulation of a nuclear deterrent mission, its armed forces ministry said on Tuesday, at a time when the United States plans to exit a nuclear arms control pact with Russia. The 11-hour mission, which included refueling, tested all phases of an attack mission involving a Rafale warplane. “These real strikes are scheduled in the life of the weapons’ system,” French air force spokesman Colonel Cyrille Duvivier said. “They are carried out at fairly regular intervals, but remain rare because the real missile, without its warhead, is fired.” It did not say when the test was carried out, and officials declined to say how often they take place. ZITAT Tempest’s unmanned ‘loyal wingmen’ to be carrier capable
Gareth Jennings, London - Jane's Navy International 17 February 2019 The UK is looking to create a carrier-capable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as part of its wider efforts to develop the Tempest next-generation combat aircraft, a government minister said on 14 February. Answering questions in the House of Commons, the Minister of State, Ministry of Defence (MoD), Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, Earl Howe, said that the Tempest needs to be compatible with the Royal Navy's two new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, and that the concept currently being considered is that the UAV 'loyal wingmen' will be ship-based rather than the fighter itself. "The combat air acquisition programme is looking at the replacement of Typhoon's capabilities [through development of the Tempest], and any new combat air system will need to be interoperable with the Carrier Enabled Power Projection (CEPP) programme. The concept phase of the acquisition programme will consider Queen Elizabeth carrier basing for any unmanned force multipliers which may form part of the future combat air system," Howe said.
