Die gesellschaften verdienen ziemlich gut, deren Leute bewachen viele Rohstoffvorkommen in afrikanischen Krisenregionen, wo man den Örtlichen kein Vertrauen schenkt - der Verdienst dürfte recht ordentlich sein.

Mich würde aber auch mal interessieren, in welchem Umfang solche Firmen wirklich tätig sind... wobei ich fürchte, daß da noch weniger Info existiert als bei "normalen" miltärischen Aktionen, die derzeit laufen

Spannend allerdings der Artikel zum Thema Transparenz bei Sandline... sieht so aus, als würden sie verstehen, daß die PMCs transparenter sein müssen, um nicht in den Söldner-Ruf alter Schule zu geraten, aber natürlich liegt Verschwiegenheit auf der anderen Seite in der Natur der Sache

Wie muß man drauf sein, um da zu arbeiten? Wie sieht da wohl nen 9-5 Job aus?

In the absence of a set of international regulations governing Private Military Companies, Sandline has adopted a self-regulatory approach to the conduct of our activities. Management and Resources

Sandline is privately managed by a number of senior ex-military personnel from the UK and US armed forces. This management team is supported by access to a pool of consultants with extensive international commercial and legal expertise. Sandline personnel are highly professional, often former military, police and government employees, recruited from a number of countries. They are the best available, and have extensive experience of all levels of conflict, but are tuned to the nuances and political sensitivities in the world today.

All employees are thoroughly vetted by the company prior to employment and their activities are monitored closely at all times. Any breaches of discipline and confidentiality result in dismissal and may result in prosecution in the client country. We offer a costeffective solution for our clients. The financial package is selfcontained and invariably determined in advance of service delivery. Contrary to speculation in the press, we do not seek to be rewarded in the form of mineral concessions or other indigenous assets. All Sandline contracts have addressed the issue of remuneration in an exclusively monetary form.

Auch Großbritannien hat noch seine Interessen am afrikanischen Kontinent, und sei es nur in Sierra Leone. Die dortige Regierung ist am 25.5.1997 durch einen Militärputsch gestürzt worden. Die UNO hat daraufhin im Oktober 1997 ein Waffenembargo gegen die Rebellen verhängt. Großbritannien soll im Februar 1998 eine Waffenlieferung von 30 Tonnen AK-47 aus Bulgarien an die gestürzte Regierung toleriert haben, geschmuggelt von der Firma \"Sandline\".
