Mir ist da jetzt keine Bilderserie bekannt, oder meinst du einfach ganz allgemein SEAL-Bilder aus dieser Zeit (späte 90er)?

Danke Dave76 für diese Bildersammlung! Sehr genial! Da werden echt Erinnerungen an die Zeiten wach, in der man noch auf die äußerst unregelmäßig erscheinende "Barett" und sündhaft teure US-Bildbände angewiesen war, um seinem Militarismus zu frönen. Und wie man es kaum erwarten konnte, daß das nächste "Nam"-Sammelheft erschien. Und wie einen das auf dem Frankfurter Flohmarkt aufgetriebene US-ALICE-Koppelzeug als höchstmoderner Ausrüstungsgegenstand erfreut hat. Irgendwie mag ich auch woodland noch nach wie vor.

Aber der Pornobalken war doch in den 80igern obligatorisch, der hat es doch sogar noch in Top Gun geschafft.

Selbst normale Infantristen sehen heute hochgerüsteter aus als die. Aber den Unterschied macht hoffentlich nicht die Ausrüstung, sondern der Mann.

Übrigens, sieht der Herr auf diesem Bild nicht wie Topper Harley aus? SCNR

Was mich sehr erstant ist die im grossen und ganzen eher schmale und in machen Faellen fast schmaechtige Statur im Gegensatz zu BIldern aus Afghanistan oder dem Irak.
Ist das dem deutlichen hoeheren Gewicht der Ausruestung geschuldet oder ein Irrweg des heutigen Koerperkultes? Vorallem wenn man zB in Restrepo liest, dass die Soldaten nach kurzer Zeit alle nach Aceton stinken und anscheinend in eine katable Stoffwechsellage geraten wo sie Ketonkoerper produzieren koennte man fast meinen das dieses Plus an Muskulatur eher Nachteile als Vorteile hat!
Gibt es da irgendwelche Erfahrungswerte hier im Forum oder vll auch Studien zu?

Ja, das fällt mir immer wieder auf Bildern aus der Zeit auf: Soldaten haben ein Gewehr in der Hand und tragen eine UNIform. Ich will hier keinem "früher war alles besser" das Wort reden, aber die Sehgewohnheit ist ganz anders heute.

Studien kenne ich keine, aber Bodybuilding als Teil eines als professionell angesehenen Körperkultes ist verstärkt erst in den 90ern aufgekommen. Ich muss mal meine alten Körperpsychologie-Unterlagen durchgehen, ob Gisela Stein da zu geforscht hat.

Was natürlich in den 80ern auch fehlt sind Körperpanzer. Und die übergroßen Uniformen betonen die dünneren Körper.

Ich würde mal darauf tippen, dass es stark am Körperkult liegt. Natürlich muss man mit der schwereren Ausrüstung kräftiger sein, aber ob man so stark sein muss bezweifle ich. Das kann natürlich auch eine Henne-und-Ei-Geschichte sein. Mehr Ausrüstung heisst mehr Kraft, mehr Kraft erlaubt wiederaum mehr Ausrüstung. Aber eigentlich sollte Ausdauer vor Kraft kommen. Allerdings können da natürlich auch gewisse Einsatzumstände eine Rolle spielen. Wer motorisiert in Afghanistan unterwegs ist und gelegentlich mal Türen eintritt, für den mag kräftiger durchaus vorteilhaft sein. Muss man tagelang durch den Dschungel kriechen, dürfte leicht-ist-Trumpf gelten. Ein 90+ kg Mann mit 50+kg Gepäck schleicht nicht mehr durch den Dschungel, der stapft wohl eher. Bei 35° und 80% Luftfeuchtigkeit dürfte auch jedes Kilo weniger helfen. (Weniger Arbeitsleistung und mehr Körperoberfläche pro Kilogramm dürfte auf Dauer der Leistungsfähigkeit zuträglich sein.)
Das erinnert mich auch an einen Artikel, der ungefähr hieß "10 Dinge, die ich von den Afghanen über das Kämpfen gelernt habe", der unter anderem meinte, dass möglichst wenig zusätzliches Gewicht, im infanteristischen Kampf sehr von Vorteil sein kann. Die gewonnene Geschwindigkeit erlaubt schnelle Taktiken, die mit viel Gerödel nicht drin sind. (Also quasi Beweguns- vs. Stellungskrieg wink.gif)
Es fällt mir immer auf, dass auch auf aktuellen Bildern Fremdenlegionäre zwar durchtrainiert, aber eben nicht übermäßig muskulös ausehen, und meistens mit Gewehr und Uniform und wenig sonst auskommen.

Man sollte auch bedenken, dass professionelles bodybuilding schlicht und ergreifend sehr zeitaufwändig ist. Nicht jeder hat die Zeit dafür übrig, besonders nicht, wenn man Mitglied einer Spezialeinheit ist, die haben anderes und besseres zu tun.

Desweiteren ist es nicht immer so, dass Masse auch gleich Kraft bedeutet. Im Bodybuilding wird halt auch viel "künstlich aufgeschwemmt", damit es massiger aussieht, aber das bedeutet nicht immer, dass die Kraft so extrem viel größer als bei einem etwas hagereren Gesellen ist, der auch gut trainiert ist. Von der Geschwindigkeit ganz zu schweigen, solche Massen müssen auch erst mal in Bewegung gesetzt werden, was bei einem Feuergefecht nicht unbedingt ne tolle Sache sein muss. Im Nahkampf ist es allerdings sicherlich ziemlich "erdrückend" ^^

Ich gehe nicht davon aus, dass Angehörige von Spezialeinheiten tatsächliches Bodybuilding betreiben. Solche Leute brauchen Kraftausdauer, und wie lange jemand durchhält sieht man nicht ihren Oberarmen an. Deswegen können sie trotzdem ziemliche Kanten sein, siehe zum Beispiel Schwimmer. Die werden schon viel Zeit in Krafträumen verbringen, aber ich denke nicht, dass bei denen die Optik was zählt. Kann mich zB an eine Doku über die Kampfschwimmer der BW erinnern, die waren alle gut gebaut und sehr sportlich (logisch), aber da sah keiner aus wie Hulk Hogan.

Was neben den charakteristischen Pornobalken den der Heckenschütze schon erwähnt hat auch typisch ist, ist das obligatorische Rambo Stirnband; auch auf jedem Bild zu finden.

Was den Körperkult angeht denke ich das der schon in den 80er eingesetzt hat mit Stallone und vor allem Arnie.

Warum haben die keine Körperpanzerung? Die wurde doch schon im Vietnamkrieg an einfache Infanterie Einheiten ausgegeben?

Gewicht, vor allem hat es sich bei den damaligen Schutzwesten mit Masse um Splitterschutzwesten gehandelt, welche bei Kommando-Einsätzen nicht unbedingt Sinn machen.

Ganz grob und allgemein und nicht spezifisch auf die SEALs bezogen?
Anfang/Mitte der 90er kamen Aimpoints und ACOGs, etwas später in den 90ern IR-Laser und Lampen, dann Foregrip und so ab ~2000 mit dem Durchbruch der Rails-overall kam die Flut und es wurde alles ausser der Spülmaschine an die Waffe gepappt wink.gif

Das tollste an den Bildern ist eigentlich zu sehen wie wenig sich die Ausrüstung der SEALs damals von der Standard-Ausrüstung beliebiger GIs unterschieden hat. Wenn man das mit heute vergleicht...

Was mir besonders stark auffällt ist der Unterschied im körperlichen Erscheinungsbild der abgebildeten Kameraden im Vergleich zu Bildern von heutigen Seals, genauer die eher weniger ausgeprägte Oberkörpermuskulatur.

Dies soll in keinster Weise eine Debatte über mehr oder weniger Leistungsfähigkeit anstoßen! ;-)

Der Grund ist meiner Ansicht nach der oben schon angesprochene Unterschied in der Ausrüstung der auch hier erkennbar ist.

Damals: keine Körperpanzerung, Koppel und ansonsten halt großer Rucksack wo der Rest drin ist (wenn denn gebraucht)

Heute: Chest-Rig, Plate-Carrier (oder was denn dann gerade getragen wird), mit den entsprechenden Schutzplatten, sprich Körperpanzerung.

Bin mal gespannt wo sich das noch hin entwickelt, auch im Hinblick auf die BW.

Meiner subjektiven Meinung nach sind schon jetzt Unterschiede im körperlichen Erscheinungsbild innerhalb der Infanterie (GebJg Fallis Jg) und Grenis zu erkennen.

In the late 1980s, Navy SEAL Master Chief Jim Kauber, flew over the Persian Gulf at night strapped to the outside of an Army OH-58 helicopter, to interdict Iranian gunboats and mine layers. Outfitted with a Litton M-845 night vision device on his M-16, Jim was part of a then-unacknowledged project, “Earnest Will.” Kauber and his cohorts hunted in the darkness using the 58’s mast-mounted FLIR system, struck with no warning then disappeared before daylight. Ich habe mich mit einigen Chefs und Feldwebeln (von FschJg, PzGren und GebJg) unterhalten, die in den letzten drei Jahren (also seit 2010), in Afghanistan waren. Deren (zugegeben subjektive) Beobachtung war, dass bei Grenis und Fallis vermehrt Wert auf gut ausdefinierte muskulöse Oberkörper gelegt wird. Umgangssprachlich ausgedrückt, der Anteil der "Pumper" ist in den oben aufgeführten Einheiten höher, als z.B. bei den Gebirgsjägern.

Hinzu kommt, dass diese Anteile hier in Deutschland im "Friedensdienst" (in der Einsatzvorausbildung sowieso, da läuft ja jeder mit der Ausrüstung rum, auch ein GebJg) mit mehr und schwererem Gerödel am Man rumlaufen, insbesondere mit Plattenträger/komplettem Chest Rig usw.

Im Gegensatz dazu ist nach den subjektiven Beobachtungen die Lage bei den Gebirgsjägern etwas anders. Hier gilt immer noch der Leitspruch: " Was du am Man hast musst du auch auf den Berg raufschaffen".
Daher wird massiv auf Ausdauer trainiert, mehr und größere Muskeln am Oberkörper bringen wenig wenn man die den Berg nicht rauf kriegt.

Hinzu kommt, dass im Gebirgskampf aber ein Plattenträger mit Platten (als Beispiel) eher massiv hinderlich ist (einfach wegen des Gewichtes), daher wird dieser im Friedensdienst meistens weg gelassen. Wie gesagt, subjektive Beobachtungen. Kann auch an der Ausstattungslage liegen, da habe ich keinen Einblick rein.
Dennoch schliesse ich mich der Meinung meiner Kameraden an, dass sich der Falli und Greni eine andere Muskulatur als z.B. ein Gebirsjäger leisten kann.

Natürlich lasse ich mich immer eines besseren belehren, da das Thema sehr subjektiv ist. wink.gif

A Mark 8 SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) is piloted by two Navy SEALs of Naval Special Warfare Command's SEAL Team 2. The SDV is a 22-foot long jet black submersible all-electric vehicle powered by rechargeable siver-zinc batteries. Jupp, AT4. Ich denke nicht, dass die direkt aus dieser Position vom DPV aus abgefeuert werden sollten. Wahrscheinlicher erscheint mir dieser Anbringsungsort, um im ernstfall schnell auf die AT4 zugreifen zu können und diese abseits vom Fahrzeug abzufeuern. Das, was du für Kabel hälst, sind meiner Meinung nach einfach die Tragegurte.

So, kommen wir nun zu den Anfängen der SEALs, das heißt im Prinzip Bilder aus Vietnam. Das Problem ist, dass ich hier leider keine durchgehend hohe Bildqualität bieten kann, genausowenig ist eine jeweils genaue Bildbeschreibung verfügbar. Wenn mir Informationen zu dem entsprechenden Bild vorliegen, poste ich diese natürlich entsprechend, wenn ich einen eigenen Kommentar poste, so wird dies durch fehlenden quote-tags ersichtlich sein. Eine chronologische Staffelung ist mir aus obigen Gründen leider nicht möglich.

XM4? Möglich, kann ich nicht so genau erkennen. Könnte auch 'en Model 727 oder 723 sein, ich blicke da 'eh nicht so ganz durch, basiert das XM4 auf dem 727? Anyway, die Bezeichnung M16A2 ist gar nicht mal so falsch, damals wurden grundsätzlich alle AR15 Abarten im US-Militär als M16A2 bezeichnet, gefolgt, wenn überhaupt, von der genaueren Versionsbezeichnung:

Kann die Bilder leider nicht sehen (schwache Verbindung); CS wurde auch von Flugzeugen eingesetzt, bspw. bei CSAR und ähnlichen Einsätzen (Mayaguez Zwischenfall, ...). Eine LAW ist auch gegen "verbunkerten" Gegner einsetzbar. Durch den VC wurden auch gepanzerte Fahrzeuge (PT-76) eingesetzt (?) und erbeutet.

CS wurde von den SEALs eingesetzt um den Gegner ins Freie zu treiben, besonders VC welche sich in befestigten Unterständen und Bunkern verschanzt hatten. Gegen solche Befestigungen und Bunker kamen eben auch die LAWs zum Einsatz, daneben wurden diese aber auch häufig genutzt, um verfolgende Gegner zu verlangsamen, wenn sich der kleine SEAL-Trupp nach Kontakt zurückzog.

Ah, alles klar... CS wurde aus der Luft, per "Granate" und per Mighty Mite, einem tragbaren (?) Erzeugersystem eingesetzt. Nur war mir nicht so klar, wie man im Delta wirklich Tunnelsysteme anlegen konnte.

die Jeans waren einfach robuster als damalige Uniform Hosen..

Robuster als die BDUs, Jeans hielten einfach den ständig feuchten Bedingungen besser stand und waren insgesamt widerstandsfähiger in Bezug auf Vegetation und Insekten.

Die USS Grayback habe ich 2011 sogar in Manhattan besucht.
Wer mal in "Big Apple" ist: Ein Besuch im USS Intrepid Sea-Air-Space-Museum lohnt sich!

Ich muss mich korrigieren. Die "Grayback" wurde in den 1980ern versenkt. Im Intrepid-Museum liegt die USS Growler, die aber zur Grayback-Klasse gehört.
