Das kann ja eigentlich nur ein Scherz sein? Haha - "21c Roleplay" - aber hübsch gemacht, abgesehen von den unrealistischen Zeiträumen!
ZITAT German Alternative Naval Powerplant (GANP)
[...] Clearly, public opinion would have to be softened up before announcing the creation of a class of nuclear attack submarines as well as nuclear surface combatants. Minister of Defense and leader of the CSU Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg thus made the decision to have development of the reactor focused on first while he has his coalition allies would lay the ground work for a public relations campaign to forestall and public fears. In addition, the Merkel Government would be in close contact with the Constitutional Court to sound out any issues which might arise from reactor development. Thus a three part process was born; I. The reactor would be developed based on commercial experience. II. To save money, Type 212 submarines would be reconfigured to accept nuclear propulsion. [...] III. The German Navy, would phase in the changes on existing ships that have been ordered but have yet to be laid down. Reactor Specifications German Alternative Naval Powerplant (GANP) Reactor Type: Pressurized water reactor Fuel: Zircaloy (15% Uranium with 93% enrichment) Coolant: Light water (Deuterium-depleted water) Moderator: Water Control: Boron and control rods Power generation: 48 MW Fuel life: 30 years Theoretical maximum speed generated: 15 knots when surfaced and over 25 knots while submerged. - One reactor can interact with up to two steam turbines to provide power and propulsion for the vessel. [...] The notion that a normal Type 212 could be easily fitted with a nuclear reactor was deemed “laughable” by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG. However, money was money so they proceeded to lay down the framework for a nuclear attack submarine based on Type 212 lines. The end product is an almost completely new class of attack submarine sharing the Type 212 lineage but at the same time being something else entirely. [...] The resulting vessel was about a third longer than the normal Type 212 and a third more costly and displaced twice as much weight. Der Beitrag wurde von Merowinger bearbeitet: 1.
