ZITAT Algeria has 200 T-90 MBT kits on order Peter Dunai, Budapest - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly 23 February 2015 It has emerged that Russian state import/export agency Rosoboronexport signed a contract in 2014 to supply 200 T-90 main battle tanks (MBTs) in kit form to Algeria. The contract was reported by Russian media on 20 February, quoting business sources in the military-industrial complex. Assembly of the tanks will be carried out at a facility that previously repaired Algerian Army armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs). According to Mikhail Barabanov, editor of the Moscow Defense Brief , the value of the contract could reach USD1 billion. Barabanov said he thinks the contract is one of the largest ever concluded for the delivery of MBTs. http://www.janes.com/article/49381/algeria...t-kits-on-order Damit wird Algerien über 500 T-90 verfügen. |

ZITAT Boeing, Saab Unveil Ground Launched SDB By Aaron Mehta 10:06 p.m. EDT March 10, 2015 WASHINGTON — Boeing and Saab have teamed up to develop a Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) program, with three successful test launches of the new system completed last month. The three tests, conducted at a range in Sweden, proved that the Boeing and Saab design could successfully launch a SDB weapon from the ground, sync up with GPS and guide the weapon to its target, opening up what Beth Kluba, vice president for Boeing Weapons and Missile Systems, called "all-angle, all-aspect attack." The system essentially sticks a GBU-39B small diameter bomb, widely used by the US military and a number of international customers, on the front of a M26 rocket. The M26 is set to be demilitarized by 2018 under a set of cluster munitions treaties, meaning the GLSDB program would essentially be recycling an item that countries were planning to stockpile or scrap. The weapon is designed to be launched out of a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), used by a number of US allies already, avoiding the need to design a new launch system. That MLRS can hold six weapons per pod, with two pods per vehicle. Executives from the two companies are positioning the system as a low-cost product that meets a requirement gap by combining off-the-shelf products. Video of Boeing's Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb "These are technologies that are already in use," Kluba said. "It's off-the-shelf technology. That really drives the risk down for this new capability." Once launched, the SDB acts as any air-launched SDB would, which means ground-based commanders now have 360-degree coverage. The weapon can do both high and low angles of attack, fly around terrain to hit targets on the back of mountains, or circle back around to attack a target behind the launch vehicle. Range-wise, the GLSDB can hit targets 150 kilometers in front of the launcher or 70 kilometers behind it. While declining to put a price range for the system, Kluba said it will be "very affordable" and comparable in price to anything the MLRS currently uses. She also predicted an 18- to 24-month delivery time from when a contract is signed to when the system would be fielded. "This is not developmental, it's not PowerPoint," she said. "It' hardware, it exists, and through our investment we're able to bring this capability to the war fighter very quickly." That investment she mentions is all internal R&D spending, something split between the two companies. According to Kluba and Saab North America President Michael Andersson, there are ongoing discussions with a number of customers, including several who were present for the weapon tests in February. While Kluba confirmed the US Army is looking at the system, she declined to identify other customers. Boeing actually began development of the GLSDB system in 2011, but dramatically sped up the process once Saab signed on as a partner in August. Both executives also declined to go into details of how the investment has been split between the two companies. However, it is clear that a big part of Saab's role will be to help sell the system to nations overseas, something in line with previous Boeing teaming efforts. "From Boeing's point of view, this was something we wanted to do and we were moving towards that goal," Kluba said. "As we conducted out various reviews, we saw an opportunity, because we have a relationship in place with Saab, and as we were looking at the market and how to be most successful in penetrating the global market, we saw an opportunity." "We view ourselves as equal partners," Andersson said. "We're bringing different skills and capabilities to the program, and that ranges from engineering production, testing and also marketing." Andersson added that there are 10 potential initial customers identified by the companies, adding that this is a program that could exist even if the US does not buy in. "Looking at the international coalition partners, this is a very important capability," he said. "In the US context it may be more complimentary. Here it is a unique capability that they haven't had access too, and that's really important in terms of looking at the broader market." http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/l...aunch/24705183/ -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

ZITAT France to invest €330 million upgrading 218 Leclerc Main Battle Tanks Mar 12, 2015 The planned modernization work will enable Leclerc MBTs to employ its heavy, direct firepower and mobility as part of the future "SCORPION" joint tactical groups (GTIA). The contract provides for the delivery of 200 "upgraded Leclerc" tanks and 18 "Renovated DCL" recovery vehicles from 2020. The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) notified Nexter Systems of the Leclerc tank renovation contract. This order constitutes the third operation launched by the French Ministry of Defence under the SCORPION programme intended to modernise the French Army’s contact forces. Valued at approximately €330 million, the contract provides for the delivery of 200 “Renovated Leclerc” tanks, representing half of the current inventory, and 18 “Renovated DCL” recovery vehicles. Deliveries of the upgraded Leclerc are expected to begin in 2020. The planned renovation work will enable the Leclerc to make the best use of its fire power and mobility within future “SCORPION” joint tactical groups (GTIA). Thanks to the development of specific interfaces for the new CONTACT tactical radio system and the SCORPION information and command system (), it will be able to effectively network with all components of future “SCORPION” GTIAs. Moreover, the upgrade of its protection through the development of specific armour kits will enable the Leclerc tank to deal more effectively with new threats, such as improvised explosive devices. A 3rd generation tank with a high degree of automation and diagnostic assistance, the Leclerc tank currently gives the French land forces “first entry” capability as part of an international coalition. The renovation operation launched aims to maintain this capacity beyond 2040. http://defense-update.com/20150312_leclerc...ml#.VQK6quE2cS5 La rénovation du char Leclerc est lancée Zu SCORPION (Synergie du contact renforcée par la polyvalence et l’infovalorisation): http://maisonducombattant.over-blog.com/pa...on-3492898.html http://www.atlas.ead-minerve.fr/co/A-SCORPION.html -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

ZITAT Lithuania seeks PzH 2000 artillery buy Lithuania is looking to buy 12 Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000) 155 mm self-propelled artillery (SPA) systems from Germany, it was announced on 15 April. The news emerged during a visit by Lithuanian Defence Minister Juozas Olekas to his German counterpart Ursula von der Leyen. Olekas said he had asked "about the possibility of buying German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery and received a positive response". The Lithuanian minister added: "This will allow us to have experts in May launch specific negotiations, which, hopefully, will in the near future [see us] acquire the necessary capacity," according to a statement published by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence (MoD) The Lithuanian MoD statement additionally noted that the country is also interested in the possibility of buying German infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Although the Lithuanian MoD did not specify how many PzH 2000s or which IFV it was interested in buying, the German MoD clarified that the programme was for 12 SPA, and for ARTEC Boxer 8x8 IFV. Any Boxer purchase would include the Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation (OCCAR), which oversees the programme for Germany and the Netherlands. ZITAT Norwegian Army modernizing through a technological leap 24-04-2015 On April 23 the Norwegian Ministry of Defence announced plans to further strengthen the capabilities of the Norwegian Army. Defence minister, Ms Ine Eriksen Søreide stated that a plan to modernize the main battle tank Leopard 2A4NO and to procure a new and modern air defence system will come in addition to the ongoing fielding of a host of modern infantry fighting vehicles in the CV-90 family. The total investment is estimated to approximately $1700 millions. The plan constitutes a great technological improvement for the Norwegian Army. When completed, the Norwegian Army will have a fleet of modern tanks and fighting vehicles that are fully network enabled, with increased firepower, mobility and protection. Together with a new mobile air-defence system, the war fighting capabilities of the Norwegian Army will be significantly improved. The primary task of the Norwegian Army is to constitute a threshold for war. The modernized version of the Norwegian Army will likely be operational by 2020. http://www.mynewsdesk.com/no/haeren/pressr...source=sendgrid -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

Leopard 2A4(NO) Upgrade
(Quelle: https://www.regjeringen.no/globalassets/upl..._mars-2014.pdf) P 5050 – Main Battle Tank Leopard 2 upgrade Background and overall objective: The purpose of the project is to upgrade the existing fleet of Leopard 2 Main Battle Tanks. The upgrade includes amongst others improved protection, new thermal sights, air condition, etc. Scope: Upgrade of 46 vehicles. The number may, however, be reduced.

Quelle : http://www.n-tv.de/wirtschaft/Rheinmetall-...le15175141.html
