Wat? Das ergibt überhaupt keinen Sinn. ZITAT On its first combat deployment, the Marine Corps’ F-35 bombed both the Taliban and ISIS February 25, 2019 As it returns from its first combat deployment, the Marines' version of the F-35 is no longer a baby-faced boot. F-35Bs flew more than 100 combat sorties against the Taliban and ISIS while deployed aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex, said Lt. Col. Kyle Shoop, commander of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 211. "We overall supported more than 50 days of combat flying for over 1,200 flight hours," Shoop told Task & Purpose. "We supported both Operation Freedom's Sentinel up in the Afghanistan region as well as Operation Inherent Resolve over Syria/Iraq. We employed ordnance in both theaters on numerous days," Shoop said. "Every single one of the pilots employed ordnance in theater. So, we were very busy." [...] During its deployment, the F-35B squadron flew close air support missions over both Afghanistan and Syria, Shoop said. In Syria, the aircraft also helped assess the damage done by coalition airstrikes in bad weather because the F-35's radar is far better than the F/A-18 Hornets' sensors. [...] Overall, the F-35 exceeded expectations during its first deployment, Shoop said. The squadron was able to keep 75 percent of its aircraft operational at all times, allowing it to "fly pretty much at will." [...] https://taskandpurpose.com/f-35-combat-depl...2Thc9ribsekR4SQ Edit: Noch ein paar zusätzliche Details: ZITAT The Marine Corps' F-35B Joint Strike Fighters led a big part of the campaign to demolish Islamic State terrorists in recent months, outpacing the combat flight hours flown by older aircraft on past deployments by 2-to-1. [...] The F-35Bs were able to give troops on the ground more information than would have been possible in the AV-8B Harrier jump jet, which the Joint Strike Fighter will eventually replace. Its sensors are better in poor weather, Shoop said. The Marines ended up flying the F-35B about twice as much as the Harrier flew on past deployments, Nelms said. "A conservative estimate is the F-35 flew 100 percent more hours on this deployment than a typical deployment for a Harrier squadron," he said. "When you consider that their readiness was 75 percent or better ... while doubling the amount of flight hours being flown, it's a real testament to the aircraft and the maintainers." https://www.military.com/daily-news/2019/02...deployment.html Der Beitrag wurde von Dave76 bearbeitet: 26. ZITAT [...] AIRCDRE Kitcher [Commanding Officer of the RAAF’s Air Combat Group] explained yesterday in a press conference hosted by Lockheed Martin Australia that in the recent Red Flag 19-1 exercise at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, in one sortie undertaken by Australian F/A-18 Hornets as part of the Blue force, a USAF F-35 pilot with only 150 hours since coming out of the worldwide training program located at Luke AFB, was able to warn a pilot in a F/A-18 with 3000 hours flight time that there was a Red Air aggressor closing on his position. He then give instruction on how to proceed to to escape, and the F-35 nullified the Red Air target. This account gives an accurate description of how the F-35’s sensor suite is a game changer in situational awareness in a conflicted airspace. During Red Flag 19-1 AIRCDRE Kitcher witnessed first hand flying with 77 Squadron the abilities of the F-35 first hand, He says: “For me it was very pleasing to witness the F-35 in a strike mission, to see an eight-ship of F-35s kick down the door against a fairly determined adversary, with support from some F-22s to hold the door open. “The F-35s then went back to pick up the strike train which consisted of classic Hornets from 77 Squadron, Super Hornets from the US Navy, Typhoons from the Royal Air Force and supported by US Navy Growlers and USAF F-16 SEAD aircraft. “The F-35s took that strike train deep in the training area through some significant air defences, everyone dropped their ordnance and everyone got out safely. While that was going on there were Growlers and F-16s suppressing enemy air defences and when the F-35s dropped their ordnance they were actually providing SEAD as well. The whole strike train got out safely thanks to the F-35’s efforts.” [...] https://www.aeroaustraliamag.com/raaf-f35s-first-exercise/ -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

ZITAT BAE begins Meteor and SPEAR integration for F-35 Gareth Jennings, London - Jane's Defence Weekly 17 March 2019 BAE Systems has begun integrating the next tranche of UK-specific weapons onto the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning combat aircraft. The company announced on 18 March that it had been sub-contracted by Lockheed Martin to begin integrating the MBDA Meteor beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) and the Selected Precision Effects at Range (SPEAR) 3 air-to-surface missile aboard the aircraft. Integration is expected to continue up to 2025. As noted by BAE Systems, the Meteor and SPEAR 3 work is part of a wider package that includes further integration of the MBDA AIM-132 Advanced Short-Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM) and the Raytheon Paveway IV laser-guided bomb (LGB) in support of delivering initial operating capability (IOC) for the UK. While all of this work is being done specifically for the UK customer, Cliff Waldwyn, head of Combat Air, Group Business Development of MBDA said that it also added additional capability choice for international customers. https://www.janes.com/article/87285/bae-beg...ration-for-f-35 -------------------- "avenidas/avenidas y flores/flores/flores y mujeres/avenidas/avenidas y mujeres/avenidas y flores y mujeres y/un admirador" - Eugen Gomringer

ZITAT RAF F-35s Deploy for Lightning Dawn
May 25, 2019 The Royal Air Force has sent its Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning IIs on their first overseas deployment since their delivery to the first operational unit—No. 617 Squadron “Dambusters”—at RAF Marham during June and August 2018. The RAF declared Initial Operating Capability (Land) about two weeks before the planned date of December 31, 2018. Exactly how the RAF has defined IOC was not stated, but it was acknowledged that it entailed having a certain number of aircraft ready to conduct day/night air interdiction, close air support, suppression of enemy air defenses, defensive counter air, and offensive counter air missions. Six F-35Bs were deployed from Marham in Norfolk on May 21. The squadron operates three aircraft from LRIP Lot 8 and six from LRIP Lot 9, and it was the latter aircraft, with Block 3F software, that were deployed. They were flown to RAF Akrotiri, on the island of Cyprus, from where they are expected to spend six weeks operating as part of Exercise Lightning Dawn. ZITAT The F-35A Fighter Is the Most Dominant and Lethal Multi-Role Weapons System in the World: Now Is the Time to Ramp Up Production May 14, 2019 - About an hour read Summary The U.S. Air Force’s first F-35A fighter wing is now fully operational. The road to this point has been filled with insights on the aircraft, simulator, maintenance and logistical support, and operations that will apply to any service or nation flying the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). This assessment is based on interviews with 30 F-35A combat pilots as well as senior operations and maintenance leaders at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. It follows a similar assessment from 2016 of 31 other highly experienced former fourth-generation fighter pilots, who were then flying the F-35A at two other Air Force locations. The collective perspectives confirm that, while the JSF is still several years away from realizing its full potential, even now, the F-35A is the most dominant and lethal multi-role aircraft in the world. Mal schauen ob die Türkei noch für Lieferschwierigkeiten sorgt bei dem aktuellen Gerangel Meinst du als Zulieferer des Programms? ZITAT No ‘devastating impact’ to F-35 industrial base if Turkey removed from program, says US Air Force official December 4, 2018 WASHINGTON — A potential decision by the United States to remove Turkey from the F-35 program over its purchase of the Russian S-400 missile system may have only minimal impact on the fighter jet’s industrial base, a senior U.s. Air Force official said Tuesday. [...] https://www.defensenews.com/air/2018/12/04/...-official-says/ ZITAT Turkish suppliers to be eliminated from F-35 program in 2020 June 8, 2019 WASHINGTON — The Pentagon is preparing to transfer Turkey’s industrial participation in the F-35 to other countries unless Ankara reverses course on its plans to buy the Russian S-400 air defense system. [...] Turkish companies are responsible for 937 parts used to build the F-35, with 400 of those sole-sourced from Turkish firms, Lord said. Existing contracts would go through a “disciplined and graceful wind down” period in “early 2020,” Lord said. “If we can work to our timelines with the Turks, we would have no major disruptions and very few delays,” she said. [...] Ultimately, prime contractors Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney will make the decisions on which subcontractors replace the Turkish vendors, but the Pentagon has identified new suppliers that could step up and make the parts currently sole-sourced by Turkey. “They are predominantly U.S. sources. That’s not to say that we won’t continue to do what we always do with program management and look for other sources, because we would like to have second, third sources for most of the items,” she said. The Defense Department has already stopped material deliveries to Turkey, halting the buildup of an engine overhaul facility that was planned to be built in and operated by Turkey. “There are two other European MRO&Us [maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade facilities] that can absorb the volume with no issue whatsoever,” Lord said. Ah, das erklärt, warum es um die B und C so still geworden ist... Naja, dogfighter sollte die F 35 eh nie werden... greadeaus und das nicht zu schnell... dann kann man als Pilot auch viel besser die Aussicht geniessen.
