Da steckt sogar eine wahre Geschichte hinter dem Lied.

Konvoi ONS 92 wurde in den Nächten vom 11 bis 13 Mai 1942 von dem Wolfsrudel Hecht bestehend aus U-94, U124, U96 (ja das Boot), U590, U406 und U569 angegriffen. Gedeckt wurde der Konvoi von der Escort Group A3 (Zerstörer USS Gleaves, Küstenwachkutter USCGC Ingham und vier kanadischen Korvetten Algoma, Arvida, Bittersweet and Shediac. Begleitet wurde der Konvoi außerdem vom Such und Rettungsschiff Bury welches mit HF/DF ausgerüstet war. In 2 Nächten verlor der Konvoi 7 von seinen 41 Schiffen. Das der Geleitschutz so versagt hatte lag an dem falschen Einsatz des HF/DF an Bord der Bury...deswegen wohl auch May42 when Bury did fail the test...

Die Jungs scheinen sich bei ihren Text echt zu bemühen.
