Als Reaktion auf die jüngste Iran-Resolution des UN-Sicherheitsrats hat der iranische Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad weitere Atomverhandlungen mit der EU ausgeschlossen. Einziger Ansprechpartner werde künftig die Internationale Atomenergiebehörde (IAEA) sein. Zwei Tage nach dem Votum des Sicherheitsrats sagte Ahmadinedschad: «Der Iran wird keinerlei Gespräche mit irgendeinem anderen Land außerhalb des Rahmens der IAEA mehr führen». In den vergangenen Jahren hatten deutsche, französische und britische Diplomaten unabhängig von der IAEA intensive Verhandlungen mit dem Iran über ein umfassendes Wirtschaftsabkommen geführt. Mit dem Abkommen sollte Teheran der Verzicht auf die Urananreicherung schmackhaft gemacht werden.
