RAF Typhoon and French Mirage Flying together

Der nose art nach handelt es sich um das gunship platoon (Buccaneers) der 170th Assault Helicopter Company Bikinis. Die Hueys sind UH-1C gunships mit M21 armament subsystem bestehend aus zwei M134 7.62mm mini guns und zwei M158 2.75 inch Raketenwerfern.

Ich hoffe Ihr habt ein paar schöne Weihnachtsfeiertage gehabt. Wie ich sehe habt Ihr Eure Fliegerbilder alle verschenkt. Pulver verschossen. Alle. Alle. Da aber auch im Bilderthread üblicherweise Geben seeliger denn Nehmen ist, "spamme" ich eben nach einer Woche Schonfrist weiter






Die Bilder stammen wohl von der 2-tägigen Übung "Fada’eeyan-e Harim-e Velayat 4" (19.-20. Dez.) an der Küste des Persischen Golfs.

In der Gegend in der ich aufgewachsen bin sind einige Interessante Orte der vergangenen Jahre. Unter anderem ist bei mir in der Nähe die Wewelsburg sowie ein eher wenig bekanntes ehemaliges Flugfeld.

Von diesem Flugfeld starteten diverse Nachtjagdgeschwader. Da der ganze Fliegerhorst in einem Wald beheimatet war, standen die Alliierten lange vor der Frage, wie die Flugzeuge so schnell aufsteigen konnten und wohin sie verschwanden. Trick an der Sache war einfach, das man im Falle eines nicht abschüttelns auf weitere Ausweichpisten (~10-20km) ausweichen konnte und später zurückkehrte.


Weiterhin wurden in der Nähe Bauteile der V2 kurz gelagert, da unweit des Fliegerhorsts Abschussrampen vorgesehen waren. 2 große Betonplatten waren dafür schon gegossen. ~20km entfernt lag/liegt auch das große Munitionsdepot Harth/Ringelstein welche heute soweit ich weiß leider nicht mehr begehbar ist. Dort finden sich aber heute noch unzählige Bunker und enorm viele verrostete Bombenreste die dort an der freien Luft lager(ten?)

Nach dem Krieg nutzten die Briten dann häufig das Gelände als Übungsplatz. Das Waldstück was man im Hintergrund so häufig sehen kann ist weiterhin das selbige welches man schon in schwarz-weiss sehen konnte. Es ist auf dem Luftbild in etwa in der linken oberen Ecke des dunklen Rechtecks.














Für Leute aus der Gegend war das dann eine echte Sensation, zumal man einen Harrier anfang der 70er nicht immer in freier Wildbahn so nah erleben konnte.

Nein, die B-52B (#008) ging 2004 in den Ruhestand, die beiden 747 SCA (#905 & 911) im Jahr 2012. Allerdings gibt es noch eine 747SP, welche für das SOFIA-Programm fliegt, diese ist auch auf dem Bild mit der DC-8 zu sehen.
